We see that she is strong and independent but also that she didn’t get there alone and has gone through a lot. So this is a very quick post about how to talk to someone with special needs about death and I have linked some other content down below about it as well.  So looking at this can really help as well.  As it is something that isn't really discussed in disability circles and it needs to be as it can harm the person more in the long run.  So being honest with the person is always a good thing, to be honest with people is great.  Also letting them go to the funeral and preparing them for it is another big thing as well.  In having them understand what is happening we see that they are much more prepared for it and understand that it would happen to them as well.  Also, let the person ask questions about death and let them be curious, I have linked some children's books as well because many people won't have the words but a book can help.  Top 10 children's books on death and bereavement | Children's books | The Guardian How to Talk to your Child with Special Needs About

So these are a couple of thoughts on this and what I have found to be much more helpful instead. I find that being realistic about your situation and understanding what is helpful is much better. It helps to see the situation for what it is and accept it.  What I am saying by accepting the situation is being able to say that yes it will get rough and it will get better, or finding the little joy moments but also seeking to be real and honest. The people who care about you are for you.  I am a big fan of accepting professional guidance and support and there is plenty around at the moment. So this is an interesting video and it's a topic that we need to talk about being "high functioning," with a disability doesn't mean that we aren't disabled.  So with this in mind a lot of people with conditions that others would consider a disability we see that it might not be the case for them, they might just consider it a medical condition or a different way of being and this is ok.  However being high functioning comes at a cost, a mental, physical, and fiscal cost and this is an issue for some of us due to not knowing where we "fit" do we "fit in at a day center. Do we fit in at a disability enterprise, where they go and work in a safe environment?  Or are they able to work and hide the fact that they are disabled this will vary depending on the person and the country they are living in? So I hid the fact that I was disabled for many years and we see that this is an issue now that I didn't ask for the help I needed and my family did a lot

  So this is a bit of a different post and it is something that needs to be discussed I see that it’s something that others are aware of as well, however, what is it, it is the lack of disability services in the Outback and this is something that we need to be aware of that there are people with a disability that don’t fit into any box, so slip through the gaps.   These doctors don’t want them working, but they can’t drive, they are too high functioning for a day center or they don’t have the funding for a day center and this is a big issue as well. So what does that look like as well, as the person gets socially isolated and often their budget is very tight so they need to be aware of that as well. https://youtu.be/J1iRU5eI4Wc   Students are being forced into social justice models I see that this is driven from the top down and it's making things worse for the students but in the "social justice," framework there is one large population that is massively being left behind and this is the disabled community.  This is because it is very had to do a higher education degree when you have disabilities and most people with disabilities area actively discouraged from going to university and go to community college or tafe instead or straight into supported workplaces.  I know in most Universities they do have a disability services department, however as Dr Jorden Peterson pointed out it has become an department  in and of it's self that they students are the ones that suffer, I see that this is an issue due to the fact that they are the ones asking for help and it used to be a private agreement with the professor or teacher and the student.   The Disability Bureaucracy

So what is the NDIS? The NDIS is the National disability insurance scheme, it is a program that is designed to help people with a disability to live an “ordinary life,” so to get them out of unsuitable situations such as hospitals, aged care facilities, or away from aging parents into disability housing and housing that is appropriate to their needs. However this is a sticking point as there are gaps in the services that are major and this can become an issue due to the wording what is the difference between a medical issue and a disability as so often the two cross over and make life complex for the person involved, but for the NDIS the disability is lifelong stable and diagnosed, and able to be managed. However so this begs a question of what is a medical issue as some medical issues can cause disability, so this is where things start to get tricky, in that a medical issue can be something that can be treated or cured, however, I know quite recently that we are seeing some lo

I have been struggling to write this post as there is so much that is changing around the NDIS but community engagement, can mean different things to different people,  it can mean going to a day center for a person with less capacity and who need a structured environment, that is safe for them to be themselves.  It can also mean going to volunteer somewhere that will accept a person with a disability, or as complex as planning a trip to a comic con or another sort of convention.  It also could be helping you get to the shops basically anything that helps you engage with the community on your terms.  If the support organization is dictating to you what you "are allowed to use" during your community engagement time I would question it and question the organization.  However, we need to remember that there are different classifications of support being in a Sil house they are there to help you in the house.  If you are a Hacks client ( Home and Community access) this is a combi

It’s quite an interesting podcast to listen to and it is in the thriller genre. I like it because it harks back to the days of the old school radio plays and you had to wait till the next week to find out what happened. It is set in the future where human clones have been given their human rights and I find this interesting that it’s clones that have human rights, this infers that most other oppressed groups have been given their rights as well, however, at times in today's society we see that they don’t have human rights and most countries only respect them on paper, not in practice. It focuses on when a clone meets his “source,” so we see that the clones have their own language and culture and that this is respected by the establishment.
