Simon and the Shadoworld.

Image
Simon is Clarry's friend, has been there for him for years, and she drags him into the shadow world, where he is turned into a vampire. Raphaelle the New York clan leader return's him to the institute and she makes the decision to turn him into a vampire, he doesn't like the fact that he is a vampire and clary has dragged him into this world. He would rather be doing the normal things for his age like attending college and playing his music. There is a variation from the books to the show that in the books Simon has a full band, in the show, it is Maurine only.  He sees that Clary is in danger from the Shadowhunter yet Clary can't explain it but she knows that these are her people and that they can help her make sense of the world that she now is in, as she can see Jace and the others can't as Simon when he is turned into a vampire he doesn't really have anyone to turn to and Alec seems to always be digging him or Clary out of trouble.  Yet he starts to see his

Magnus and the other downworlders - The Seelie Queen.

Magnus is a warlock and has very complex relationships with the other down worlders these being the creatures that are in the shadow world but have demon blood in them and therefore are considered to be what the Shadowhunters call down worlders and they see the shadow world very differently due to being long-lived or immortal.  However, with Mangus, he has to play the long game due to his being immortal. He sees the long game as does the Seely queen. The queen has a very different relationship to Magnus in the books the current Seelie queen united the two courts, the Unseelie and the Seelie court they united to have a child.  This stopped the war that the Shadowhunters in Londen stopped due to one of the blackthorns being part Seele and we see that this does become an issue in the books we see that Mark and Kiren often are put between the two worlds due to this and we see that this can become an issue as well due to Mark being punished with having to join the wild hunt and it was the u

So Magnus I have written about before is a very complex character both in the books and in the show. He is the son of a demon and a prince of hell. He can perform complex magic as is seen as a threat by the other warlocks, because of his power's.  In the books he has a different life story to the show and there was a want from the actor that played Magnus to explore the charcters backstory and how this is amazing for the show if it was to be continued, in various ways.  ( This being Harry Shum jr)  Magnus being a very complex character in the books we don't seem to see much of in the show his powers but one thing is that his realtionship with mental health is an interesting one to look at as, he is immortal.  Yet this isn't over stated in the show, it is mentioned in two seems in the show that he has had struggles with mental health.  We see him as a very hedonist character and this changes when he meets Alec as he has a purpose in life again. He has an anchor to guide him.
