( This post contains a discussion on mental health please be aware of this)   Shadowhunters | Season 1, Episode 8: Jace Tells Clary Falcon Story | Freeform - YouTube At this point in time, Clary is new to the world and sees Jace as her guide to the world, yet we are seeing that she has been brought up in a loving protective world, not knowing that she was a Shadowhunter yet we see from this clip that Jace had a very different upbringing torn away from his parent's in Aclantate he was torn from place to place from family to family before being placed with the lightwoods.  This Alicante is the Shadow hunter's "spiritual home," they are placed in the institutes where they live and work but have family manners in Iris.  We know in human families that don't have a nomadic background that being taken from place to place isn't great, and can cause a lot of harm to a child not having a stable family life. In telling her the Falcon story we see that he believes to lov

Jace Herondale - profile into adoption and family connections in the Shadow world.

This is a post that will focus on Jace Lightwood, the adopted brother of Izzy and Alec, we see that he is treated differently and I may depending on readership, do another deep dive into his mindset so let me know either by email or the comments if you would like me to do a deep dive into his mindset throughout the show and how it relates to Clary and how it changes over time and how he matures into himself.   So we see that Jace was adopted into the Lightwood family at the age of ten yet we see that this isn't the truth of the matter and we are led to believe that Valentine actually rescued him as a baby and saved his life, we see this when Magnus and Valentine's brain is swapped and Magnus is in Valentine's body and he is trying to make people see that he is actually Magnus, he tells Alec details that only Magnus could know about their travels and dates.  We see that Jace tells Alec after he goes to Jace about his concerns not to believe him as Valentine could have invade

Simon and the mark of Cain

This is a variation from the books as Clary was the one that gave Simon the mark of Cain, in the show, it is the Seely queen. ( The Queen of the faeries) This is such a great variation and ties into the Relationship in the show that shows the complexity of this world, it is a great example of all the legends that are true. The mark of Cain has been shown in various ways in media as well as in history books as we are starting to see most legends are based on some type of truth or a person's misfortune. We see that the Seely queen thinks that this is a blessing, but it is a curse, as again my lens is a disability and it seems that people who see people living on a government income is a great way to live, yet it isn't as most people with a disability live in poverty or have to rely on charities at time's weather that be family or friends or formal charities. The formality of this ceremony sees that they take this mark seriously. The history of this mark is that it activat

Alec and Jace Parabatai bond; a lesson in Male friendship.

So this post is the start of another series looking at this relationship when I did the research for this post I found out that there are parallels in most religious communities to prevent social isolation. Not the supernatural bonds but people who have chosen to work together, to go to bat for each other as well.  This bond most similar is when Mormons go on missions, as they are together the whole time. Yet this bond in the show is quite complex as we see that it is a rare thing to have a Parabatai and something to be celebrated, yet like most religious communities and couplings they have rules around it, one of the most well-known is that they can't fall in love or else they can become too powerful and become the Nephilim of the old testament, the angels that carry out the wrath of God, yet it is an indiscriminate punishment.  Yet we do see that there is an argument over the translation of what this means and it could mean fallen warriors making the argument for the reality of h
