Consent and disability lets keep the convesation going.

This is going to be a controversial topic and let’s keep the conversation going as we need to talk about it, but we need to define what consent is and let’s see what it is, as consent is going to be different depending on the context. The different types I found are, ·        Informed consent around medical decisions and care so this is knowing the risks and benefits of medical procedures or knowing what the risks of medications are. ·        Intimate consent in relationships, so this is being able to have intimate relationships and be physical with that person, but also knowing that it could be risky and knowing how to maintain relationships as well. ·        Implied consent so this could be for care and self-care tasks they need help with so for someone who needs help dressing or showering so being able to consent to this care. [i]   This is where  the  complexity of disability  comes into play as  some people are able to consent but if a person has a mental illness or ment

Disability and consent let's keep the conversation going.

This video I can see I recorded a while back but it is still very relevant today as we do and don’t talk about consent in disability.  Some people will never be capable of having a romantic relationship or being able to hold down a normal job.  But we don’t talk about it as we don’t think it’s a needed conversation to have in some case but in some it’s very needed so this is going to go into where we need to be having conversations around consent and relationships, in disability as there if a person receives care is going to be conversations that they need to have that are difficult and challenging, and consent is one of them, and understanding consent for able bodied and neurotypical people I have had conversations with them and it’s tricky for them so we need to respect that for a person with a intellectual disability or a neurodiversity this could be tricker and they want to respect it but may not have the impulse control to be able to control what they  are doing. But others can

My journey to being honest with myself about who I am

I have realised I live with a certain low level of constant frustration that is starting to wear me down and it’s entirely my own fault. It to me seems to be a combination of major things coming into my life and some are my fault, but others aren’t, and they are something that I find incredibly wearing and I think that this is not talked about in society. So, I have been very honest and open about living with Chronic pain and the limitations it puts on me as well, but we also do see that there is something else that leads to frustration in people with disabilities lives and this is something weird that we really do need to discuss, it’s a combination of being disconnected from the rest of society. I know that the Royal commission will help with this, but we are seeing a definite normalization of identity and I really do respect that, but I am not seeing as much as a lean towards disability acceptance and we are seeing that people still think it’s ok to talk over us and not to amp

Chain of gold a review part 3

Chain of gold a review part 3 So I have some quotes from the book that I would like to share with people and they are quite, illuminating, so they show a very different side to the Shadowhunter’s world, and the world that they live in isn’t so different from our own, it has its issues that are unique to the shadow world. That they are born into the world and face ex-communication if they try to escape or live apart from the world. I will share them in another post as this post is very information heavy as well and I see that the quotes them selves deserve there own posts.  This world is brutal, and we see that Tessa Gray a half Shadowhunter half warlock is, featured much more heavily in this area.    We see that she doesn’t know who her father is but we see this explains why her son a Herondale has an ability that other shadow hunters don’t this is the ability, to go into demonic realms, and this is quite interesting in that the demonic realms are, complex to navigate in a way, and

Heavenly fire and dealing without consent part two

As we see in Chain of Gold, they mention that all the stories are true in a way that you might not suspect. So we see that there is a lot to deconstruct here as well and it is going to be quite interesting to link it back to disability and consent due to current health outcomes due to COVID as the Lockdowns people pause as it was the disability community saying essentially welcome to our world and it showed people what it is like to have your day to day reality controlled by someone else or to be dependent on others for what you need day to day and what happens if they can’t get there. So, it is this that I will go into more depth, and I will also do a post around how this affects the Down worlders as a whole as well as it changes the whole world the question is what makes you is it your personality or your actions?   How does your personality affect your actions and how do your actions change you if you don’t have something to aim at this would make you depressed and struck in the p
