Magnus is a warlock and has very complex relationships with the other down worlders these being the creatures that are in the shadow world but have demon blood in them and therefore are considered to be what the Shadowhunters call down worlders and they see the shadow world very differently due to being long-lived or immortal.  However, with Mangus, he has to play the long game due to his being immortal.
