Magnus and Blackfriars bridge.

So Magnus I have written about before is a very complex character both in the books and in the show. He is the son of a demon and a prince of hell. He can perform complex magic as is seen as a threat by the other warlocks, because of his power's.

In the books he has a different life story to the show and there was a want from the actor that played Magnus to explore the charcters backstory and how this is amazing for the show if it was to be continued, in various ways.  ( This being Harry Shum jr)

Magnus being a very complex character in the books we don't seem to see much of in the show his powers but one thing is that his realtionship with mental health is an interesting one to look at as, he is immortal.  Yet this isn't over stated in the show, it is mentioned in two seems in the show that he has had struggles with mental health.

We see him as a very hedonist character and this changes when he meets Alec as he has a purpose in life again. He has an anchor to guide him.  Blackfriars bridge is important in the world of the Shadowhunter's due to some other charcters being allowed once a year to meet on Blackfriars bridge.

This being Tess and Jem, as due to a demon attack Jem got addicted to a substance called yen fen, that is very addictive and can kill you so the only solution to save Jem's life was to become a silent brother. ( however this is a story for another post)

Magnus story is very intertwined with the Shadowhunter's and this is because they often have needed his help, but this help has always come at a cost to the Shadowhunter's as the warlocks demand payment for there services.

We see in a clip that Hodge is talking about did Magnus help Joslyn or did she pay him for his services. In this we also see that his history with Camelle is introduced and this jewellery is a throw back to the original books and we see that he has lived all over the world.

However we also see Magnus allude to giving up and Camille rescuing him, but this relationship was very unhealthy and unstable. Most of the relationship's in this show and the books arn't very healthy yet Magnus seems to be able to show that he has learnt about the relationships. He also has seen the way that the Shadowhunter's have treated the downworlders over the years and how this has effected people.
