What I want to say to Tumbr fan girls that slam me but can't
Some of you have never worked with high-profile people or in the arts and it dam well shows. How can I say that you have never worked in the art, or with high-profile people, because people don’t know the technical terms, that are commonly used in the industry some of you are trying to use them but we are seeing that people don’t want to use it, in the correct terms?
So, an important thing to remember is that you are only seeing what an actor or content creator wants you to see and that there is something called fan service.
You also see that people, see that people need to be able to understand what is happening with premieres and press nights they might be flirting but again we see what they want us to see and that is a part of their work and it’s a very noisy environment, and that is why people need to be looking at people’s lips.
Using the terms out of context is not great and it shows that you’re interested but not interested in learning the correct terms,
One take doesn’t mean one it can me multiple angles and shots, it means that they got a shot first take but often it’s multiple takes so they can get most of the shots the directors want.
One shot means one shot, but the first shot isn’t always the first shot and again it means the first shot I will do a post on what other shots mean, and how they are used, as using those cameras is very different to a YouTube camera or smartphone.
Background actors or extras are actors that fill up a scene and make it look more natural and real and the language difference can be direct and I am considering that.
Intimacy coordinators are fairly new to the industry and their job is wider than, just spicy seen, it’s to protect everyone, so a closed set is standard for intimacy seen and also having one on board protects not only the actors but the crew and the actor's real-life spouses, as they can respect boundaries and what an actors spouse will see on screen. As improvisation in touch is considered a very bad form of intimacy and we do see a couple of exceptions, if someone has say contacts or something that impairs vision we see that this could be to stop an actor running into a set or a background actor.
Sensitivity readers are again like intimacy curators very new, so we spiralised in disability and if a person with a disability isn’t cast in that role and there could be many reasons for this, including physical and emotional reasons, as you can be doing long days and it might be a topic that is very close to home for that person, so we can see that it’s accurate and portrays it in a sensitive light, as disability isn’t PC and it’s a hard topic to talk about and we see that some of the comments that David tenant got for there she goes not being realistic from abled bodied people shows how people don’t see the reality as this was people life’s that he knew and they simply used it as therapy.
But we see that we are part of the push to move forward beyond tropes or being the token person to having our stories told and seeing people like us represented on screen in a show-and-tell type of way and move beyond coding people or people transferring onto a character.
And all of the camera angles you’re talking about show you want to be in the arts, but you need to be able to understand that if you’re trying to break into the arts the first thing to do is to learn about it, there are some great channels to learn about what people do. locking
Fan service is where an actor at press events will lean into gossip and speculation around them to get more views.
Blocking is the act of blocking out a scene so camera angles can be worked out, The costume knows what needs to be in the wardrobe, and what accessories need to come out of other departments.
Table reads. Are when the actors are reading the script tougher for the first time and this is generally done episode by episode but filming can be out of sequence, this means that if they are in that costume, they might stay in that for a whole day and do a lot of seen for that series so it doesn’t take much to google these terms and the other thing that gives it away that you don’t work in this industry is that you don’t know about different actors unions.
that they do generally work together but it’s not one actor’s guild worldwide as this wouldn’t work, as it has to be based on where the company commissioning the content is based and some contracts are better than some standard actors ’ agreements
Actors PR have an agent and maybe a PR person or a personal assistant but not generally as this is what keeps them grounded as well, and we often inflate their worth due to seeing them in expensive clothes at industry events and we need to remember that these clothes are often on loan to promote them but they often know what we don’t that going for the better quality items that they can wear forever is a better investment than chain store items that will break or even getting stuff tailored or I know some actors are now going into vintage as they are going into the war on wastage.
We are also seeing much more professional behaviour on set and most actors for there social media either don’t have it, have it private or have an advisor on what to post and it’s not haphazard as they are aware of potential dangers to their privacy and some I know in Londen pay for memberships to private clubs, and not what we in the Moden world know as a genitals club but given the history of clubs in Londen as the actors I am currently working with are Londen based, and they have member ships to clubs that date back to Victorian times and they were exclusively for the wealthy or the middle class to go when they were in Londen and to be able to network and relax out of the private eye, in the name of equality we also have private members club for women of equal status, but they aren’t as well-known as in Victorian times they would have had to been very discrete and they have kept up with the Moden age, providing, restaurants, hotel style rooms, and suits, as well as lounge rooms and library’s.
Often these men had country estates and came in for what was known as the social season where the debutants in high society were presented, and the aim was for them to be married off. As a woman unless she was going to inherit an estate and often this was taken off her, by a brother or uncle this was their best option, or going into order was often an option or to become a governess, so someone who understands high society and can teach the young women about what is expected of them,
But in the Modern age, they have become a refuge for actors and other high profile people to relax, grab a meal and if they need a room, to have access to them, we often see that even (guests of these clubs) have to be vetoed and often the vetting is anonymous and this is where the phrase being blackballed came from as they had to go and put a ball either white or black in the ballot box and if they had one black ball as white would mean yes and black would mean no, and not having full agreement they didn’t accept the person, and they didn’t even get a reason why, and this still exists in some private clubs to this day.
Some often have members-only events and can work towards being able to be more focused on their missions given their secrecy, they are allowed to operate in their constitution and being private we don’t have access to it, and it’s oven very ethics-minded and an existing member can be excluded due to bad behaviour, while at the club or a club event, so we know that these clubs exist and you often have to have a what they call a legacy membership or be invited by a friend and you have to be vetted by the members and this is in some cases quite deep and the rules are quite intensive.
Often men of a certain class went every day to be able to simply be around people, we also see that they were the start of the old school coffee houses that became a trading centre, that then became a centre of commerce and then what we now know as the stock exchange that got it’s name from exchanging stock, and becomes what we know with shares today, and international trading.
This is something that we need to be aware of that they have these connections and calling someone a Nepo baby, is true, but it’s the same in any industry to be aware that it’s who you know, but actors post Me too and covid have to audition or be invited to do the role and you need to have a hefty body of work or have been a rising star at Drama school or community acting groups, to be invaded to do that role, we see that actors kids have expressed that they have concerns around there children being actors and to have a backup plan for their life, such as Tom Holland is a trained carpenter, David tenant being a trained drama teacher, all sensible options and shows there understanding of the arts industry and David tenant was lucky to only need one retail type job to get him through a tight spot and we see that he was able to save as well.
