The Mythology of the Shadow hunters world the Seely Realm and court.

[i]

In the books in a previous series called the internal devices, we say that there were two courts in the faerie realm they were the Seelie and is a much more dignified court that resembled the Victorian court of old and the Unseelie court is very reminiscent of something that is found across many cultures called the wild hunt. This is called by many names but given that we are focusing on the Shadowhunters world font is a punishment for people in the Seelie realm, which has several realms but one of its main features in that time moves differently there.

We also see that the shadow hunters have a saying that the difference between the Seelie and Unseelie courts is that the Unseelie court does evil in the open, and the Seelie court hides it. [ii]

Shadowhunters treat this realm as very dangerous as in the series some Seelies have a childlike appearance however they are ancient beings not mortal but like many being in this world and even popular culture and mythology they are long-lived so we particularly like the warlocks, these keep them a very different outlook and in the Seelie realm the demand favors and expect that these favors will be kept.

However the Unseelie court is not fixed as we see that Malcolm fade was involved in spreading a blight that kept spreading and we see that the Cold peace affected the Unseelie court and we see that they were able to make an agreement with the clave and had a shadow hunter Kiren claim the throne of the Unseelie court and I will mention the wild hunt in another post but these are the fey that takes the dead or the fay and they collect the bodies of the hunters and they are focused on the hunt for the dead and are made up of men,  the women riders where to brutal and became the [iii] Riders of Adar Rhiannon, or the Valkyrie, a being that guides the dead  Odens hall in Norse mythology,  but we see in the Shadow world they where to brutal in the hunt often unwilling to let their charges die and recruited them to the riders.

In the Sealy realm, we see that one of the major features in this world is that these creatures cannot lie we see Maryse lightwood in the first series we see her say to her daughter  Izzy lightwood to never trust a creature who cannot lie because they find much more inventive ways to omit the truth.

in the second series of the tv adaptation, when the mortal sword is still lost but the cave the organization that the Shadowhunters report to is fond of keeping secrets so that there is less panic amongst what they call the downworlders.

we see that this creates friction for a lot of people, particularly it is the risk of ruining Alex and Magnus’s relationship because Magnus is distrust Shadowhunters because he was at the table when an international agreement called the accords where signed I see that this agreement is very similar to the UN Convention of human rights or the Nuremberg code in defining what is right and wrong when it comes to warfare as we see that in the past the downloaders were hunted for sport by the Shadowhunters and considered to be inferior beings due to their demonic blood but we see that this resulted in something called to cold piece and this is akin to the cold war and the Cuban missile crisis where one person stood beyond pulling the trigger on a nuclear weapon. [iv]

We also see the mention of ley lines when they are looking for what corrupted them and the magic at Lorenzo Ray's party and we see that Mangus explains to Alec that these Ley lines can become corrupted and we do see that Lorenzo ray outlook accuses Magnus the beat a bit in a bit of a roundabout way but being able to corrupt so why not and we see that Magnus explained that healthy ways other sorts of all magic Sealy warlock alike so, therefore, we see Alec asking if the Seelie queen is involved in manipulating or corrupting the ley lines and we see that this is where we discover to the source of Mangus power that he is Admoduse’s son. But this is for this world a fairly accurate portrayal of ley lines and that they have been discredited by science as sources of magic.

As we see  Alec asking if the Seelie queen is involved in manipulating or corrupting the ley lines  however this is where we discover  in a couple of episodes that Lilith is involved

we also see a fairly accurate portrayal of the mythological Lilith being that she was Adams’s first wife in Jewish culture and refused to be subservient to Adam therefore her punishment as a woman was that she could never bear children so, therefore, she is considered to be the mother of all demons.

We see that the Seelys are protectors of everything in the natural world we also see that the Seelie queen has the birds and the bees as her spies and messengers then pull we see the  Seely realm portrayed as it is in many works of mythology as a beautiful but dangerous place.

Where things are designed to heighten the senses and to trap the unwary we see that in their first mission where Clary and Jace are taken to the shadow realm and Simon Lewis decides to tag along for the ride.

We see that the Seely queen is fond of playing tricks on both Shadowhunters and mundane alike we often see mentioned in the books but they will take mundane and shadow hunter children alike and replace them with their sickly children this is in popular lore called the changeling child.
