stop normalizing self diagnoses

This is a hard one to talk about because the internet and googling have saved many a disabled person at the hands of a time-poor doctor and they have been able to self-medicate but this is the issue that in doing this you might actually cause yourself or another person harm by doing this.

There has been an explosion of people gaining access to medications through googling and getting access to medications that are meant for others' medical condition the big two I can think of is people gaining ADHD medications for study drugs and people using some types of insulin for weight loss when you don't have diabetes or another condition that causes weight gain.

So you make it harder for yourself to have good health care by not trusting doctors or by pushing the doctors to make a diagnosis so you can get what you want, it harms everyone and this isn't a good thing in a way that we see that people want to help themselves but we see that if you are saying things like everyone is a little ADHD  no your not and ADHD is there since childhood if it develops in the Adulthood it can be either a missed diagnosis, Masked or a sign of another serious medical condition and this is where accepting that you do need to be observed is a big thing in getting a diagnosis and if you say things like this it makes it harder for people who do actually have ADHD  and need accommodations like extra time.

We are also pathologizing normal human experiences and due to the internet we have unlimited access to the world's vast knowledge but not all of it is accurate information due to the pandemic, the dumbing down of minds, and technology we see that even adults at times can't distinguish what is accurate and helpful vs what is an add on line and we see that this is becoming more and more of an issue as cyber-attacks become more prevalent and more malicious and we see that government monitoring becomes normalized online and we see that this all adds up to ADHD like behaviors as well, but a pill isn't going to fix bad relationships or getting constantly fired overnight we need to be aware of what this means and how to fix it as well so instead of normalizing Doctor google. I would like people to consider what consequences it does have when people minimize a very real and disabling diagnosis, if you can function in the normal world and occasionally lose track of things this is normal but what isn't normal is being impulsive to the point you have to leave you wallet at home or you need care because it stops you from functioning this isn't normal so I would ask people to stop and think and be aware of what you are doing and saying and how this could impact people and what they do in there life as actions have consequences and it needs to be said that it may not be you who pays the price.
