This is a great podcast and we are starting to see that the
podcast is gaining massive traction and the plot is picking up traction. We are
seeing that the Clones where researched and genes where manipulated towards explosive
anger.
We see that James Clone is able to get hold of the research and get his way into
the labs that they had in working with Clones. His source is unable to wake up
as he is a drug addict due to the pressure that his parent’s have put on him to
achive he works for the LA PD as a consultant. Being a migrant James does
experience is very similar to most people of Asian descent they pressured by
their families to be high achievers this is a cultural phenomenon that we see
play out in many in many tropes across the media, in having a look at Ecco Park,
we say that it is produced by Harry Sean junior an actor of agent descent that
has had this experience he is now able to advocate for other minorities in
Hollywood where he is based due to his level of fame.
He is very down to earth from what I have read of the media
about him he is pushing for these tropes to be re examined and rewritten in
looking at other media that Harry has done we see that there are some unusual
trope’s, that all refreshing to see being that he is is filming great anatomy
and is part of a cohort that have actually failed they residency program.
Grey's Anatomy is a long running TV show I remember watching
it when I was in my 20s it is great to
say that the trope of high performing
Asian is being re-examined.
However in going back to the podcast we see that they
discussing through the podcast class divisions and other social issues that had
become very apparent in a post covid world.
The clones so we discover have traits that make them more
prone to to violence as we see there will be protests about the way the clones
are treated by society. this protest gets violent and we see that James didn't
know what he was getting into when he stayed in contact with his Ecco it was
supplying him clean urine to be able to keep his job.
however, when his Clone, starts to live James's life. we see
that there is a massive class divide between the echoes this is what they call
owns like to be called and their source. The Ecco’s have been around to that long that they have
developed their own culture and have their own religion.
This however causes conflict, this is where this episode
leaves off as we see the clones have to be extra careful when dealing with public
services this is very similar of many people who are classified as minority groups in their
communities. these groups do include people with disabilities as many people
with undiagnosed disabilities do wind up on the wrong side of the law.
Due to conditions like ADHD or other conduct based disorders, I am not saying that
all people with these types of disabilities are bound wind up on the wrong side of the law. However,
if they don't have the right support’s in place. this is where things can go
wrong, due to the impulisivity that is associated with ADHD.
In the podcast we see that Terrence and James might have actually
been switched however we do not know. we
see that Terrence is discovered by James's family’s housekeeper due to him
being willing to help with housework.
However when he reveals himself the housekeeper revealed
herself to be a clone as well this we see as them forming alliances. these
alliances are tenuous at best due to conflict within the clone
community.
there is no sense of social cohesion so this is quite
interesting in looking through the lens of disability that people with
disabilities are often, lumped into the same to the categories by people without
disabilities. however disability is so unique that what people perceive as the
disability community is a very media active activist. Community.
these activists are very needed in Australian society and in
other societies to promote and push for hard won rights. that shouldn't be an
afterthought, they should be at the forefront of peoples minds. so I see the clones
as a metaphor for minority groups. in a way that they are treated by society.
dial given government housing that they have to push for
repairs this area that is called ecco park. is where they released the clones to
into the community. they lived at a
place called the retreat, and they where given there freedom but weren’t taught
about basic life skills that they would need for integration.
So this is where the community centre came in to being they filled in the gaps
left by the retreat, and provide a place for people to go to be themselves and
to have access to services that they needed.
However like a good community center they encouraged independence
and they are able to understand what is happening in a way. They see that diversity
of thought is a good thing.
this is not something that James would normally do, however
we see that James is OK but is still recovering from his last Bender with drugs.
in previous episodes he discuss is how he can stop it anytime this is seen in
many people with addictions. they believe but that they are in control, in
control however they aren't.
I might come back to this episode and update this post but for now I am enjoying
this podcast and am enjoying seeking out the similarities in the clones lives
as well as the lives of people with a disability.
