Magnus and Jace a look at their Relationships
This is going to be an interesting post given that Magnus doesn’t
seem to have a lot of respect for Jace at times and Jace seems to be quite disrespectful
in the way that he sees himself and Alec as a package deal we see that he has
no hesitation in barging in when Mangus and Alec are having some much fought for
time alone, something that we see is a continuing
theme as I realize it is their jobs but at the same time, we see that it’s something
that becomes quite complex where Magnus needs to start to understand these
relationships a lot better as in a way Jace and Alec are a package deal. We can
see how annoyed Mangus and Alec are at this moment as they were only just
starting to discuss their relationship at this stage we start to understand that
Alec has never had a relationship due to thinking he could have what he wanted
in a relationship so chose duty over his relationship prospects as he lives in
a very conservative world.
So Alec is in an don’t ask don’t tell culture and we see
that he was crushing hard on Jace however we know that there are different
types of love, the love of family and then there is romantic and it’s this
romantic love that Alec was confusing with the love of family as many different
cultures have words for different types of love in the English langue we don’t have
the words for it other than friendship and intimacy. However
other languages do starting with Greek and Hebrew as this world is a
Judo-Christian world we see that this is a complex world to start with and then
adding in demons we see that they are able to work around this.
This is such a complex clip to watch as it shows two very different
responses to the relationship as Mangus and Jace are starting to accept each
other and accept that they will be in each other’s lives however I see that
they don’t see eye to eye all the time but Magnus knows if he wants to have a
relationship with Alec he needs to have a relationship with Jace he has seen
the shadow hunters and has interacted with them but given his history with them
has never had a serious romantic relationship with a shadow hunter and this
gives not only Alec and Jace a different perspective but gives the whole NY institute
pause for thought as well as we see that even Alec’s colleagues see that his
relationship with Mangus is healthy and trusting. More trusting than a lot of
the other relationships we see in the books and the show as well.
I see that Mangus is learning that the shadow hunters take their
job seriously as Jace is looking for a demon and is still able to work but
knows that due to his actions isn’t welcome at the institute as he asks to stay
with Mangus and this is a big theme in the books to the point that he feels
like he is running a halfway house for the shadow hunters and I don’t think
this is that far off at times.
It shows that we see Mangus as more human and Jace starts to
see him as human as well as he has faced years of mistrust from the shadow
world and we see that his reputation does come before him but we later learn
that there is a reason for that as there is no the end to his life so how does
he fill his time we see that he uses partying to hide his pain so in having a
purpose we see him settle down and Alec is a big part of this.
However, we do see Mangus sacrifice a lot for Alec to save
Jace as essentially Alec and Jace are a package deal as they are bonded in such
a way that if one dies we see that part of the other dies as well.
This is something that we see in real life something called
broken heart syndrome and this is where after the death of a spouse or a significant
other we see that the spouse goes very shortly after. It is not something that
is very well studied or even understood at times.
I have talked about this clip before and it shows that Jace
sees Magnus as a threat but we know that he is under filths control at what
cost is this control we see that Mangus is willing to sacrifice his magic for Alec
and this is not a cost that Magnus was willing to pay but we see that Alec can
pay back this trust in his way in that Alec talks to Asmodus Magnus father and
That Maryes talks to Magnus and we see that Mary’s has a massive development like
Jace is a lot more accepting of Alec and Magnus and can even tell when Alec is
nervous because alec is going to propose to Mangus and we see that he is
willing to sacrifice his relationship with Mangus to give him back his Magic, I
see that we need to be aware of what costs that things have as we see that this
can be a massive issue at times at what cost do things come and sometimes this
isn’t a cost to us it is a cost to other people.
It could be an emotional cost a physical cost or a monetary one
as well. It shows that we need to
respect this cost as well. I see it as such a complex relationship within the
show that Alec and Jace have as this bond isn’t something that we see in reality
but we see it in some ways that it’s a good thing that we see that they can
help each other in a way.
This is the point of this bond as well. We see that it’s a
very complex bond and by adding in Mangus it complicates things in a way that
we see things can’t be fixed at times and that the bond between Alec and Jace
can be broken but Mangus knows that Jace in this clip isn’t himself and that we
need to be aware of this and aware that it’s not great in a way that he sees
himself.

This is such a great clip in showing that Jace has accepted
Mangus in Alec’s life and in a way that means we see that it means a change for
Alec, as well as the relationship, moves away from Just being Alec and Jace working
together we see that Jace also wants Magnus to be happy and we see that in Jace
being supportive of Alec in a way that makes him happy. As Alec was never really happy all the time
and we see this in Alec until he meets Magnus he isn’t really happy in a way. He is just going through the motions, and
this isn’t a great way to live you need something to aim for this could be as
simple as looking for a job or for me getting to my word count.
The shadow hunters are looking for an answer to the possession
of the “mundane’s,” but it is an ongoing task. So it becomes a job but we see that Mangus does
help in a much healthier way now as it is a different type of support that
Mangus can offer Alec in that Mangus is willing to offer not only his skills
but his knowledge and connections as well.
