Magnus and Raphael The downworlders series continued

So Raphaelle is an interesting downworlder and isn't seen in the show as much as in the books, he is also another character that is aged up in the show, as in the books he is a teen and Magnus teaches him to control his powers and sends him back to his family.  Yet in the TV series, he is the New York clan leader that lives at a hotel de mort.

He is also intertwined with the life of Magnus as he is one of the downworlders that Magnus has taken under his wing, both in the show and in the books. Magnus's role as the High warlock seems to be a political one more than practical but still can charge for his services. We see in later episodes when Mangus isn't the high warlock him charging for his services even to the Shadowhunters.

Yet in these clips, we see that Magnus as he says in one clip that he practically raised Raphaelle, and can read him like an open book, so knows when he is being lied to.  We also see this skill come out with Alec as well.

However, in this clip,  Raphaelle's only living relative is dying and this is skirting the truth as it is for another vampire in this medication. As it stems from the fact that Raphaelle is jealous of Simon being able to walk in the daylight,  because he drank Shadowhunter blood and because the Shadowhunter had pure angel blood it gave Simon the ability to walk in the daylight and essentially have a normal life a life that every vampire wants.

In season two we do see a political fallout as it seems that Magnus's decision to side with the Seely queen has a fallout and this is the loss of his position as the High warlock, we see him with a client, and Alec mentions that he hasn't seen him with a client for years.

We also see that the downworlders make their own political alliances as Alec tries to drag the clave into the modern world. As the down worlders see that the clave is difficult and filled with zealots.  In this situation, we see that  Raphael knows Magnus's history with Camille, and this is a weak spot, for him as Camille gave Magnus purpose in life, as we see Raphael knows Magnus's moods. Throughout the show run and I will do a more in-depth post on Magnus and Raphael as it varies from the books and the show however it goes to show why Magnus does what he does and we are led to the question is Magnus a good guy or bad guy, I have come to the conclusion that Magnus is complicated due to his own history and the Shadowhunter's history with the down worlders as well.
