Magnus and his connections to the Shadow hunters

Magnus has had a long and rich life and it has been full of twists and turns but as it turns out being an immortal character he has seen things change over the many years he has been alive, we see that he can see perspective's that others can't and we see that he has a deep mistrust of the Shadowhunter's due to the way that they have treated downworlders, we see that he has watched the Shadoworld change and he has had to change with it.  I am aware that these clips are out of chronological order however it is to give people an overview of Magnus and how he fits into the world and I will do much more in-depth look at the relationships at a later date. 

This like how he ties into the down world will be a series as when I started writing it I started reading the YouTube comments and this brought a different spin on things that I hadn't considered. 

Shadowhunters 1x11. Magnus and Alec. I'll do you pro bono - YouTube - He has seen the Shadowhunter's own history play out, he is talking about the time of angels, finds the loop holes in what they said, during the time of angels.  Before what is called the accords and the cold peace. These are the Shadowhunter's own history yet they are forbidden from talking about it and this is why he at this stage has a mistrust of the Shadowhunter's as he sees that they don't even know there own history. He also sees that history starting to repeat it's self. 

We see that Magnus still is attracted to Alec but at this point in the show Alec is doing what he feels is right and this is to protect the family's name even regardless of the attraction that he feels to Magnus and Magnus is hurt by this but knows that Alec is from a very conservative family an don't ask don't tell culture.  

This is why Mangus demands payment from Alec as he states in the books he is tired of being Shadowhunter's pet warlock. This is where we see the bow and arrow be a real sacrifice to him. As it is Alec's main weapon for defence. 

Shadowhunters 1x12. Magnus and Alec. That was the point - YouTube -  Magnus was  called in to help the shadow hunters and realized that they don't know there own history.  Of the uprising the time of angles, the accords and the clave.  As we see that Magnus sees the clave as the true bad guys.  As he has seen how they treated some of there own and can see history repeating it's self, yet Hodge can't leave the institute  so Magnus has to come into it and help, this is at a point when Alec is still trying to save his family name and is going ahead with the marriage.  

He is actively avoiding Alec as he doesn't want to make is awkward for everyone but is still able to have his typical sass in getting his point across about what Alec is about to do everyone but Alec see he will be unhappy for his life being repressed and this I want to explore a lot more in depth. As it has very real links to disablity and whole families masking and how this effects the out come's of peoples lives. 

Shadowhunters 1x09. Magnus and Alec. There's no turning back - YouTube -Magnus trying to get to Alec. As he is considering  switching sides as he wants to get to  Valentine  just as much as the others and helps Jace, to  steel Alec Stele do it. This has the potential to hurt Alec but at this stage Magnus sees that the mortal cup is a risk to everyone in the Shadoworld as him being immortal he has seen very similar villains.  

He is also  sees that the younger generations are waking up to the clave being just as bad as Valentine in his own way, Magnus does what needs to be done.  Magnus has his own secretes just as much as Alec and he does open up as the series progresses yet this relationship becomes quite rocky at times due to Alec's behaviour's, towards everyone around him yet Magnus seems to be his rock yet he still hurts Magnus quite badly. 

Shadowhunters 1x12. Magnus and Alec. Emotions get in the way - YouTube - So Alec is still repressing  repressing himself and he feels that the arranged marriage is the best option. He has thought about what he wants and we see him still effected by his mother as we see that Alec has a very low self esteem due to his relationship with his mother as he is the first born and has the high level of responsibility. He is the head of the institute in all but the "official," capacity.  We also do start to see that Alec is questioning himself but feels that this is the right decision for him but is still sacrificing himself essentially to save his family. 

Shadowhunters 1x12. Magnus and Alec. Where is the honor in living a lie? - YouTube - Magnus tries to get Alec to see that he isn't being true to himself. That he is lying to himself, and that the Marriage isn't the answer to the problems that alec seems to see that it could be we also get a glimpse into Magnus world and thinking as he has stopped partying and being the playboy as he was hiding from himself just as much as Alec.
