Magnus and Camille - His Relationships with the Down world.

So I looked further into Magnus and Camille and these two clips seem to explain it well. They do show how well Magnus is connected to the down world and the struggles, that they seem to face. It shows the complexity of the life that Magnus has lived, he lived for centuries and essentially can't die. It shows how he is a downworlder and how he sees the struggles and in these clips, it shows Magnus's growth over the years and references the spirit of the books as well.

As the tragedy of the Warlocks and Vampires is that they never die and this is exactly what Magnus is saying here, yet they try to make the best of it but how do you do this when you know that everyone around you will die, and you won't.  This is what I feel that Camille is referring to when she says,

" The fear of loneliness has always been your Achilles heel heal you don't do well losing those you love,"

He also shows that he is well contacted with the down world through his relationships and it is these relationships that keep him going. Just as a lot of people who are in difficult situations go to people they trust, Magnus admits that the downworlders that he takes under his wing are regarded as his children.  Yet over the centuries of him being such a complex character, he shows that he isn't patient all the time yet has more patience with the downworlders than with the Shadowhunters generally.

As it is explored more in the books than in the show about Magnus being much more involved in Shadowhunter business than is explored in the show as in reading the books I see why the older Shadowhunters regard him as a bit of a Lothario in this century.   The shadow hunters seem to be at odds with Magnus yet seem to be aware of his past, however in the prequel books he helps a lot of the younger Shadowhunters as he sees the attitudes change when society changes.

In the past he has lived with  The Shadow hunters and someone that isn't in the show is Tessa a half Shadowhunter half warlock in London this is where he meets Camille, and as he says in the show he did struggle with his mental health but what is not stated and it is worthy of a new post is the way that he was involved in this relationship, as he was under a spell and he wasn't aware of what he was doing, and the consequences of the actions it would have on people.

This is where I see that a lot of people with a disability are excused from bad behaviour because they are disabled and this is something that I strongly disagree with as disability isn't an excuse for bad behaviour. It at times can be a reason or an explanation for it but it's not an excuse.  I know that I am guilty of this myself and it is a very personal journey for someone with a disability to know what is an excuse and what is a reason.

It also does depend on what society will let a person get away with, as people born with a disability at times need to be educated on what others learn through experience and others need to be taught, as the bar is set low for people with disabilities in some areas of the world.  Or learn the lessons too late in life about respect and standing up for one's self.

As I see Magnus and Camille's relationship as abusive and adding to Magnus's trauma, as he would have faced a lot of judgment for his living situation with Camille at the time, as he was living with not only her but a Shadowhunter named Will Herondale and this situation would have spread massive rumour's at the time.

So a lot of people with disabilities seem to put up with a lot of what Magnus puts up with, and it makes them deeply unhappy so they do lash out at people. Or have addictions as they don't want to deal with and own up to the mistakes they have made or even admit they need help.
