Mia and what happens when you have a lack of support.

This is going to be a very difficult post to write and for people to possibly read. Please be aware that it could be quite triggering for some people as it will be talking about abusive relationships, stalking, and control of others. I am focusing on Mia today as she is quite an interesting person in the Shadow world as she is a Downworlder and not only is she a downworlder she is studying and working her way through college online. ( this is TV Mia as she wasn’t in the books) We see that she is strong and independent but also that she didn’t get there alone and has gone through a lot. From her teen years until now she wasn’t cared for until Luke found her when she was found bitten by a werewolf (Jordan) and left to turn. This is difficult for her to process as it was her boyfriend (Jordan) who got bitten as well and he didn’t know how to tell her so simply ghosted her (he stopped communicating with her) and left her to turn alone. Even though he had stopped speaking to her, he

Chain of gold The last hours book one. a review.

So I have just finished this book and it is a great read however I am a little bit confused about what is happening in it as I have followed this series most of the way through. It has got me through some very dark times in my life. Because I live with several chronic illnesses and haven’t had what most people would consider a normal life.   (this being for a woman a job marriage and rising a family). I live with eleplisy, high functioning ADHD, and a TBI as well as shojrins syndrome that severely limits my “functional capacity,” this is complex at times because I don’t “look,” disabled and that I need care that others don’t see as care and it can be expensive to get the medical care I need and I am on the pension.     I have the luxury of being on the NDIS though, it is complex however to navigate the system and on my good days I would love to have a “normal,” life this is where this blog comes in talking about disability and how we see the world. I see books not as a Young ad

Clary and Mangus a look at what would happen if this was the real world.

This is going to be an interesting post to write and I am going to expect a fair bit of debate around it as we see that Mangus agreed to the Memory wipes and Joslyn paid him for it. So this starts to pose a very interesting question about what happens when you overprotect someone because of your actions. (1) Shadowhunters Reduced BGMusic 01x01 - Magnus erase Clary's memories - YouTube As we see that Joslyn had a way to protect herself but not a way to protect Clary and this is very similar to when you are working with a person with a disability as we need to be challenged and protected at the same time. I see that this is a good thing to be protected and challenged. But Clary is at a serious loss when we see that she discovered she is a shadow hunter and doesn’t know who to trust or to go to for help as we see that Luke the person who she sees as her father figure isn’t who he says he is and that we see that she is tolerated but not accepted as she wasn’t brought up as part

Shadowhunter's the clave and a look at real world history.

So this post has been in the works for a while and I had to do a deep dive into a book that I was aware of due to some documentaries I watched on History yet it was a very horrific read and some of these dialogues could have been taken straight out of the history books, at  0.20 of this clip we see Izzy say “ that everyone has a chose Alec, and I made mine.”  This was interesting as it shows that she was willing to risk her life for a Seely as she knew that this Seely was innocent and by Lydia sending him to the city of bones we see that he would not make it out alive. So she got a team together to rescue him and it was a mixed team of down worlders and shadow hunters as we see the alliances start to form in this episode, we see that Alec isn’t willing to risk his plans as it is because of Clary that a lot of this has happened.   But knows that he needs to get an advocate for his sister, and we see that the Clave has a lot to answer for in a lot of ways it seems to be very totalitarian

Jace and his Mind set impacts on Others part two.

This is a follow-up post on Jace and his mindset as it goes from very stable to very unstable due to clary bringing Jace back from the dead as he was at peace, we see that even Alec knows that Jace was dead and seeks to bring the truth out of Clary but she carries that with her to the point of lying about it and then covering up that lie.   As we forget that Clary hasn’t been brought up in the shadow world and that she doesn’t realize that Alec can feel Jace and that he knew it and this is the start of Jace’s mindset shift from cocky to vulnerable. Something that can happen in reality if you have a chronic illness or develop a disability. That prevents you from having a “normal,” life. SHADOWHUNTERS 2x20 JACE DIES - ALEC'S REACTION (WITHOUT CLACE PARTS) - YouTube In this clip, we see that Clary finally tells Alec that she used the wish to bring him back this made him vulnerable to demonic possession from Lilith and it makes him so focused that we see that he isn’t himself.

Alec and Underhill - a lesson in being a role model Shadow hunters.

Izzy Kisses Simon & Underhill Talks To Alec! - Shadowhunter 3x6 'I'll Keep Your Secret!' - YouTube  This clip is amazing as it focuses on the complexity of the Shadow world and shows a different side of each of the characters something that I see as a great thing. However what I want to focus on is that we see a very different side of Alec, a massive progression from someone so focused on work and uptight to someone who can have a drink. We see that this is during a season when Alec and Magus are having issues and Alec finds that he can talk to Underhill. He sees that he can trust him. From the little we see of him we see that he was the head of  Cyber security.   Alec is also respected and admired for the way he runs the institute.  Being gracious he accepts help from a subordinate in a difficult situation.  A situation could easily become a massive issue for Alec and it could really not help his cause to have this blow up on him.  As he had to fight so hard to even be

Robert Lightwood family dysfunction.

Shadowhunters Reduced BGMusic 01x09 - Alec and Robert argue about his engagement - YouTube I have mentioned in previous blogs about the Lightwood family dynamics and they do fit the profile of a dysfunctional family with Jace as a golden-haired child, Izzy as the attention seeker, and Alec as the parent/scapegoat of the family.  We see that in this clip he is still trying to save the family image but it is at a cost to his mental health as at this point in time we do see that he is still in the closet with his family, friends, and himself. He has so much to do that he is simply going through the motions and this isn't great for anyone to simply just go through the motions.  I see that we can live life best when we can live an authentic life. This is a life that you are comfortable in and of yourself. This is a thing with most people, that you can be a person separate from your family, however in the case of the shadow hunters we see that this simply isn't the case as it is the
