Alec and Clary - Being lost in the Shadoworld.

  Alec in the beginning really doesn't like Clary as he sees her as a direct threat to the Shadoworld as she has been hidden from this world by her mother and this is an issue as she is the daughter, of Valentine one of the evil Shadowhunter's that saw the head of the Shadowhunter's the clave, as failing in there duties to protect the world from demons and this to him included downworlders. So half mundane creatures, or have demon blood. So creatures like fairies, werewolves, warlocks, and vampires. 

Valentine made a movement within the shadow hunters' world called the circle and recruited people to his cause. He saw that the "downworlders," were a threat and needed to be eliminated.  Clary's mother was married to him and didn't see the signs of as they point out in the show him being a psychopath. 

So Alec from day one sees that she is a threat because she is Valentine's daughter, and his parabaiti, Jace is infatuated with him to the detriment of their relationship. One that I have talked about in other posts. 

Yet as the show and series progress we see both Alec and Clary come to almost an understanding of their worlds and how their worlds have changed, as without Clary Alec would never have met Magnus.  Simon is also dragged into the Shadoworld and it is Simon that sees first how Alec is badly treated, but his whole family.  There is an interaction in the show where Simon asks if Alec is always like this being hostile and grumpy and Izzy ( Alec's sister) if he is always like this and she responds first born heavy is the head that wears the crown. 

He is hostile towards her at first yet softens when she can learn about the Shadoworld and fit into it. It is traumatic for Alec to see his parabaiti take her under his wing first then fall in love with her.  

Each of these is a clip of Alec interacting with Clary and I will expand on each of them and how they progress the relationship and how Clary has her own trauma in this world. As the Actor who played Magnus said at several comic cons the fans have a love-hate relationship with the drama in the Shadoworld, yet these relationships aren't healthy in reality. I will post some good reviews of the books to have some balance in the blog.  

I will expand on the clips in later posts but generally, they show the clips of Alec having to be responsible for decisions the beginning people have made around Clary or that Clary has made herself. As Alec is responsible for the fallout from trying to first seek her mother then seek the relics her mother hid from the circle and the Clave, then seeking clary herself, and then the consequences of using the wish to bring back Jace.  These all have parallels to a disability, mental health, and trauma in the real world.
